Japan Heart Hollywood

Japanese people love Hollywood and Hollywood loves Japan.  The move-market is so hot here that American production companies have their stars do mini interviews on popular variety shows to promote their films.  Such is the recent case with Sylvester Stallone and Dolf Lundgren.

And for reasons I know not about, Tommy Lee Jones has been the face of Boss coffee for years.  I took this shot of his handsome face just last night.

Tommy Lee Jones is the perfect face of Boss coffee.  When I think "coffee", I always picture his face.  I now hate coffee.

These stars would not be caught dead being in these sorts of ads in North America, but they have no problems with them in Japan.  I'm learning that the marketing-machine in Japan is very different from that in North America where a star's reputation is somewhat tied to the particular product that they attach their face to.  But in Japan, Japanese celebrities don't really care what product they endorse and it's very obvious that they are doing it just for the money.  Since this is the case here, American stars have little to worry about in terms of their own reputations and cash-grab like there's no tomorrow.

Money, money!
